Track #2 and the guitars are cranked for Chimes.

In an earlier blog, I talked a little about the lyrical story of Chimes & how it was influenced by a series of small, but affecting events that felt magical, enlightening even when the moment was tough. One of these moments happened on a hillside in Utah, on a snowy day when I was out hiking. I was contemplative, weighing life's choices & thinking about love, lots of big swirling thoughts. I was thinking about my Grandparents and their love story, not too idealistically because I'm sure like all good love stories, they drove each other crazy from time to time. They did love each other very much though & they laughed a lot & supported each other. I was going through the complete opposite of that relationship at the time much to my sadness. In the throws of these thoughts, I was visited by a big flock of chickadees, about 20 of them landed in the tree beside me & I sentimentally took it as a little sign. One of my Grandad's favourite songs that he would sing to me as I bounced in his lap was Chickadee, Chickadee, sweet sweet Chickadee, sitting in a fir tree, giving out a chirpy. Chickadee, Chickadee, sweet sweet Chickadee, sing a little song for me today.

Time for better days.

There's a little nod to that moment in the video for Chimes (thank you Allen) and maybe a little tribute to Snow White. You know how much I love those old Disney movies and soundtracks & the works of Frank Churchill.

A new sky full of little signs
Don't stop breathing everything that's wild
I thought, I thought I'd felt it all and I felt the rain
Been washed clean and dry by the sun, cracks opening
I think you knew and I think that you sent them
Watching there from nature's lap to sing a new call
Oh, lost courage, don't wait anymore
I know the way to always running
I'll be watching if you were giving up
Breathe in your sighs, make them chime all the sweetest notes
I thought waiting, waiting wasn't forgetting
I tell myself it's better than life regretted
I feel my arms around you today
I think you sent them to pick me up in that same way
These softer nights are for us if you're ready
I know the way to always running
There's a tunnel ahead
And there's no light around
Fight as you may
And if you're coming to find it
I'll just let you down
I'll tie this away
We're always running
We're always running
We're always running
We're always running
No more blending, blending of the memory
Between what was real and what I wanted it to be
A sea away, but we're dancing on the same wave
Closing eyes to let go and new rhythms roll in
You don't have to only imagine
You don't have to only imagine
The whispers say time makes you numb
I know the way to always running
Oh, there's a tunnel ahead
And there's no light around
Fight as you may
And if you're coming to find it
I'll just let you down
I'll tie this away
We're always running
We're always running
We're always running
We're always running
I'll be watching if you were giving up
Breathe in your sighs, make them chime all the sweetest notes
Chime, chime, chime
We're always running
We're always running
We're always running
We're always running
